7.1 Overview

This chapter describes model construction specific to the Advection Dispersion (AD) simulation class. This class extends either a 2D or 3D hydrodynamic simulation class described in Chapter 5 or Chapter 6 to support simulation of computed quantities such as salinity, temperature (and heat) and numerical tracers. This class is therefore required for simulation of baroclinic processes and for subsequent simulation of higher order quantities such as sediments (Chapter 8), water quality (Chapter 9) and particles (Chapter 10).

This chapter assumes familiarity with the hydrodynamic model construction process and follows the standard model construction structure, documenting only model classes and configurations relevant to AD simulations.
