Description
During each timestep, TUFLOW FV uses a Newton-Raphson iteration to solve for the boundary flow conditions at inflow boundary conditions. This warning is raised when the iteration does not converge within the maximum number of steps. The simulation continues using the best available approximation from the iteration. This warning is often associated with automatic stage discharge QN boundary types.
Suggestions
This warning is often not indicative of a significant problem, particularly if the model results are otherwise reasonable. Check whether the model produces acceptable results at the affected boundary condition location.
If the warning appears frequently, check the boundary condition time series for abrupt changes in velocity or water level. If these occur try adjusting the boundary orientation to be perpendicular to the flow direction. Also ensure that the boundary condition is not overly constrained and accommodates the width of the floodplain.
