15. TUFLOW Cross-sections

15.1 Loading

TUFLOW cross-sections, and other tabular GIS inputs, can be loaded by opening the layer in QGIS. For example, this could be a "1d_xs" layer or a "1d_na" layer etc.

The tabular data is only initially partially loaded and only completely loaded when trying to plot from the file for the first time. This is so the initial loading of the GIS file is fast and only loads the tabular data if it is needed for plotting. This also means that the first time any plotting is done, it may take a little longer than subsequent plots, as the data from the file is being loaded for the first time.

15.2 Plotting

The TUFLOW cross-section format is supported in the following plot types:

  • Section Plot

TUFLOW cross-sections only support plotting using the selection tool. See the Plot Window documentation for more information on plotting.

Note: It is not yet possible to plot water level results on the cross-sections.

Example: Plotting a bridge cross-section and losses from TUFLOW 1d_xs and 1d_bg layers. Note, TUFLOW Viewer only supports a secondary y-axis which would not work in this instance, so a second section plot is created to view the results side-by-side.
