8. NetCDF Grid
8.1 Loading¶
NetCDF grid files can be loaded by dragging and dropping the .nc file into the QGIS Map Canvas from a file explorer or from the Browser Panel. Upon loading, the user will be given the option to choose which datasets to open. Unlike mesh layers, each dataset will be opened as a separate raster layer.
8.2 Reference Time¶
The reference time determines the isodate values shown for the "Animation Range" in the Temporal Controller window. If the NetCDF grid result does not have an inherent reference time, the following hierarchy is used to set the reference time:
- If a result with an inherent reference time is added to the workspace, or exists in the workspace already, then the reference time of the NetCDF grid result will be updated to match the other reference time.
- Given no other source, TUFLOW Viewer will default to '1990-01-01 00:00:00'.
There is currently no method of changing the reference time of the NetCDF grid result within QGIS.
8.3 Plotting¶
The NetCDF grid result format is supported in the following plot types:
Time Series Plot
Section Plot
The NetCDF grid result supports plotting from drawn items and from
selected items. See the Plot Window documentation for more information on plotting.
Plotting from all result types in file will be available in th TUFLOW View Plot Window regardless of which result types were loaded into QGIS.
